But, that is exactly what happened last night. We had 2 friends over for dinner and while we are eating, it began to rain. One of our sons that we will leave unnamed is terrified of storms so as we are trying to console/distract him the power went out. Immediately, we realized the sump pump is not going to work with the power out, so the boys ran down to the basement and started hauling buckets of water up and out. Sure enough, it is filling faster than we can empty it, so more kids start to haul buckets (didn't realize we had so many buckets, but we were so grateful we did!).

We quickly had water everywhere so we found every towel and lined the hallway:

As the boys continued to haul bucket after bucket for 2 hours out from the basement.

Everyone played a part and we were so grateful for what everyone did to help (we even had another friend come over to help), but these were our heroes:

By the end of the night we figured out a system and had quite a "bucket brigade" going on! I honestly don't know what I would have done without their strength and young hearts! They were a great blessing to us. We saved our basement and the power came back on and all is well...THANK YOU TO EVERYONE THAT HELPED!!!

Now you know why you were blessed with so many boys! LOL
Our basement flooded once when the circuit tripped. We since had a backup installed that is battery powered. It turns on when the power goes off automatically, and it only cost about $300, including installation. Very worthwhile, as we have had the circuit trip several times since, with no flooded basement!
